With a fresh southerly forecast I decided to check out The Manor in Felixstowe, parking at Squiz Lane just after nine dropping Mag off for her second walk of the day as she headed for home along the prom in some lovely sunshine. I had a brief look at the sea which was very choppy with a bit of a shore break so I decided to head over to Levington for an easier days sailing! After sending a few pics taken on my new mobile to the TV weather before setting up my foil board and taking it down to the little rocky beach where the tide was already pretty high and the wind from the south was gusting over 20 knots so I took a chance with my 5m which was great when the wind was up but I might have been better off rigging my 5.75? South is a good direction for the Orwell here at Levington coming down the river from Felixstowe docks making the water state fairly smooth :) I had the whole river to myself apart from a few yachts as I slowly beat towards the corner where the wind looked stronger and it was great fun gybing with a small sail in flat water! I stayed on the corner for most of the session as a few wingers arrived, I did try beating closer to the docks but the wind got more patchy so I returned to the corner and back with the wind even more up and down. I had been out ages so decided to call it a day after sailing 30 miles and doing 70 gybes, by this time it had clouded over! Snack, pack-up, head to the shower block by the lightship before heading home for a cuppa and cake with Mag. Both local papers featured one of my Aurora pics online so we walked up town to see if there had been printed, sadly not, then the drizzle arrived which made it pretty miserable!

PS – the Lovely Chris Page used one of my Aurora pics tonight but sadly none were used on the BBC weather :(
